I was 16 years old when my best friend told me of Satan’s Nostril - a local punk house in Murray Hill. I had heard the wild tales and even seen brands of inverted crucifixes on my best friend's back. For my sheltered youth, the intoxicated debauchery fueled all night parties were countless and the place to be was Satan’s Nostril. The one time I went to Satan’s Nostril, I didn’t even make it through the all night party because I ended up puking on their doorstep.
The next morning, it was barely past noon when I became homeless for the first time. I had his mom drop me at the nearest city bus stop with nowhere to go, nothing to do & no one to call.
As it goes with any unforgettable childhood best friend, time passed. We grew up spending almost every day together, writing music together, goofing off and skating. Now two decades later we’re still as true to one another as ever.

Chorus:
C#m // B7 // A // Am // C#m // B7 // Am //
Late nights
In a daunting room
Make way for that sorrow
You find around noon
The very next day
When all is well
Deep, deep down,
You simply don’t care
As sure as it rains
The sabbath makes rounds
Some old winged goat
Turned that cross upside down
To beg of the land
For peace where you lay
Or ease where you’ve stood
Down into that grave
With late nights
In daunting rooms
That make way for a sorrow
You’d find around noon
The very next day
When all is well
But deep, deep down,
You simply don’t —
