If you ever find yourself on Interstate 95, where Florida and Georgia meet on the Saint Mary’s River – given the right time in season, you may see that the marsh grass goes from horizon to horizon & the river will be more still than any peace you’ve dreamt of.
Thirty miles north and ten miles east, you’ll find Saint Simons and Sea Island, which on any given spring, summer or fall day will have more money than people know what to do with. I’ve yet to lay eyes on Sea Island but I’ve found the truth in hearsay that Saint Simon’s will become a ghost town in the winter.
I was able to meet an angel in early November 2020. She has a degree in coastal ecology and education so every day that goes by, she lets me know a scientific fact or two that I never knew before. Shortly after writing this piece regarding all the beauty the world has to offer that she’s shown me, I asked for her hand in marriage. We jumped the broom at 11,700 feet above sea level near Forest Canyon Overlook’s edge in the Rocky Mountain National Park outside of Estes Park, Colorado in July of 2022.
God could take me now. I'd die happy.

Take me now to where the marsh don’t ever end & just tell me how -- how it all goes hand in hand. Oh, just take me now to where that rivers runing still & just tell me how -- how a broken heart could heal.
Take me now where to where there’s diamonds and there’s gold & just tell me how -- how there’s nothing in the cold. Oh, just take me now to where they season all the dives and just tell me how --how true love never dies.
Take me now to where the autumn meets the fall & just tell me how -- how there’s beauty in it all. Oh, just take me now to where lovers say goodnight & just tell me how -- how an angel says goodbye.
